A popular YouTube channel toured one of China’s major electronic cigarette factories, but the scene of a worker testing vapes shocked viewers.
MACHINA, a company focused on implementing and sharing ethical sourcing options, posted a video from a visit to “one of the leading disposable vape factories” in Shenzhen, China.
The footage, uploaded last year, shows the entire vape production process. Everything appears normal at the factory until they reach the quality control section.
Apparently, workers take a puff from each vape before it’s shipped. One team member said that on a regular day, he tests between 7,000 and 10,000 vapes.

Thousands of puffs from thousands of vapes every day clearly pose major health risks. “I feel sorry for the guy testing them — that can’t be good for his health,” one commenter said.
Although they may seem more harmless than traditional cigarettes — especially due to aggressive marketing and fruity flavors — vapes also contain nicotine, which is highly addictive and harmful.
According to the American Heart Association (AHA), vape use is linked to cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, experts warn that e-cigarettes can cause irreversible lung damage and tooth enamel erosion.
